Dramatic musical portrait of the life of Swami Vivekananda, prophet of the harmony of religions and the divinity of the soul. The universal themes of the libretto are paralleled by a synthesis of Western classical and world music styles into a unified musical language. Tambura drone and Indian raga scales combine and alternate with contemporary harmony and counterpoint, Baroque form and instrumentation, Balkan and Near Eastern dance rhythms. Scored for tenor soloist, narrators, chorus, flute, harpsichord, synth/percussion, tambura, violin, viola and cello.
