VEDANTIC ARTS RECORDINGS
Music celebrating the spiritual life.

As long as human beings have walked the earth, music has been an integral part of spiritual life—as a spontaneous expression of religious feeling, as an important part of sacred celebrations, as an aid to spiritual practice—heightening the emotional power of religious texts, evoking awe, creating meditative moods.

Vedanta has included music from the earliest times. Vedic chanting, the hymns of Shankaracharya and other medieval saints, the processions of Chaitanya, the Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna, all employ music to express sacred texts and teachings, to intensify spiritual feeling, to deepen meditation.

Vedanta in the West is continuing this tradition, using English and other modern languages, creating new music to communicate spiritual truth in our own time and place.

The hauntingly beautiful music of John Schlenck enables the listener to explore the spiritual dimensions of life. His contemplative works for chorus and instrumental ensembles take you on an inner journey through a rich landscape that bridges ancient and modern, East and West.

Vedantic Arts Recordings was founded in 1996 to celebrate and promote the spiritual life through music.
